Ralph V. Wehner: grew up on his parents farm and apple orchard on Long Pond Rd, Greece, NY

Service: Ralph served as an electrician on the Naval Cruiser USS Duluth CL-87 in the Pacific during WWII. His ships bow was badly damaged in a typhoon 5. Repaired in Guam his ship rejoined the TF 38 fleet July 21 to screen during final air strikes on Japan and ultimately entered Tokyo Bay for the surrender ceremonies.

Post War: started what turned out to be a thirty year career at Gleason Works as a mechanist and tool maker. After retirement he taught his trade at RIT.

Education: St. John Evangelist Grammar School, Edison Tech H.S.
Hobbies: avid gardener and skill at repairing and building just about anything.

Religion: Devoted Catholic and life long member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He led Rosary prayer groups at Crimson Ridge assisted living facility where he resided his final years .

Family will receive friends Friday, May 26, 2017 4-7pm at The Newcomer Funeral Home 2636 Ridgeway Ave. (corner of Long Pond Rd.) On Saturday, May 27, 2017, a mass of Christian burial will be held 10am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Ave, Rochester, NY 14616. Interment with full Military Honors in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
