Marcus Shane-Austin Smith, of Greece, died suddenly September 9, 2018.

He was born March 13, 1994 in Rochester, NY; the son of Dwayne Smith and Jenna DeRose. He attended Greece elementary and middle schools before attending and graduating from Arcadia High School in 2012. During his time at Arcadia High School, he played football, basketball and track and field. After graduating from Arcadia High School, he attended Canisius College, where he was working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Health and Wellness. Marcus married his loving wife, Sarah Marie Smith (Edwards) on July 10, 2016. Marcus and Sarah have a beautiful baby daughter, Cecilia Rose Smith (Age 3).

Marcus is survived by his wife, Sarah Marie Smith (Edwards) and his daughter, Cecilia Rose Smith; his parents, Dwayne Smith and Jenna DeRose (Brent Patterson); his sisters Alexandra Deanna Snyder and Devynn Katyn Smith; his brother Xavier Wayne-Austin Smith; the mother of Devynn and Xavier, Shelley Coats Brundidge. He is survived by his maternal grandparents Richard and Judi DeRose; and his paternal grandparents, Carlton Smith and May Clarke. Marcus leaves behind his in-laws, Dawn and Bill Fox, whom he, his wife and daughter currently reside with; brother-in-law Alexander Fox (Megan Alabough); and sister-in-law Kimberly Fox. Marcus leaves behind several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, coaches and teammates.

Calling hours will be on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at the New Comers Funeral Home located at 2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester NY 14626. Immediately following the calling hours, there will be a memorial celebration of life reception at the Barnard Exempts East Room, located at 360 Maiden Lane, Rochester NY 14616.
