HILTON-Robert Nicholas Schils, 76, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at his home surrounded by the love of his family.

Bob was born in Port Washington, WI and grew up in Nashua, NH. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University and served three years in the US Army as a dental specialist. He was the founder and owner of the Brookdale Golf Course in Spencerport, NY and he spent forty-five years working in the motion picture and video business as a freelance lighting technician.

Bob thoroughly enjoyed fishing, especially fly-fishing, in the Great Lakes tributaries for Steelhead and Salmon. He played golf, enjoyed yardwork, gardening, cooking, and experimenting with various chilies.

He is predeceased by his parents; Alvin and Pauline Schils, his wonderful sister, Geraldine (William) Syms, his grandson, Benny W. Sortino III, and his son-in-law, David Vincent Kupka.

Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Concetta “Connie” (Calcagno) Schils, his children; Benny W. (Christine) Sortino Jr., Kristine Sortino Bovee’, Charles R. (Stacey Luther) Sortino, and Roxanne Sortino Kupka, his grandchildren; Marchelle (Tyler) Hoffman, Corine Sortino, Kolton Kupka, Emily Cardinal, and Andy Chatfield, his great-grandchildren; Taylor Ryan, Alyssa Ryan, Michael Ryan, Jacob Hoffman, Abigail Hoffman, Brianna Hoffman, Alexis Turner, Olivia Cardinal, and Avery Chatfield, his siblings; Mary (Joe) Bellavance, and James Schils, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave., Rochester, NY 14626, on Monday, June 17, 2019, from 2:00pm-4:00pm, and 6:00pm-8:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Leos Church, 167 Lake Ave, Hilton, NY 14468, on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 10:00am. Interment will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Greece, NY.
