GREECE- Paul R. Weigand, 73, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.

Paul was born in Rochester, NY on January 7, 1946 to the late Raymond and Dorothy Weigand.

Paul Weigand was an only child born and raised in Greece, New York. He graduated from Olympia High School and went on to Clarkson University. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, and during that same time, met his loving wife Christine. Paul served his country for five years, before being honorably discharged in 1973. After completing his service, Paul apprenticed for Kodak to pursue a career as an automation mechanic, and worked in this role for 30 years, until his retirement.

At a young age, Paul discovered his love for all things that fly, especially anything remote-controlled. His discovery was partly inspired by his dad, who was a founding member of the Radio Control Club of Rochester. As a young boy, Paul became an avid modeler, and this initiated a lifelong passion for modeling and flying. Over the years he designed, built and flew model airplanes. He loved them. He was a very active member of several modeling clubs around the area, and met so many of his friends and loved ones through his devotion and enduring enthusiasm for model aviation. And like his father, Paul shared this love of planes with his children and grandchildren. Now four generations of Weigands share this love of planes.

Above all else, Paul was a family man. Taking care of his family mattered to him more than anything. He was a loving father of his three children. He was always quick to share with others just how proud he was of his kids' and grandkids' accomplishments, and how much he loved all of them. Paul shared his life with his beloved wife, Chris, whom he married in his early twenties and who has been by his side for 50 years. So much caring and love shared between them... it is difficult to put into words. There was so much life shared and lived in their fifty years together. So many stories in a house filled with so much love.

Paul will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Christine, his children, Kurt Weigand, Wendy (Scott) Glasgow, and Matthew (Brandy) Weigand, and his grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave., Rochester, NY 14626, on Friday, July 5, 2019, from 9:00am-12:00pm, with Air Force Honors to immediately follow.
