Kathleen Underwood passed away in Rochester, NY, on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at the age of 82, surrounded by her loving family. Kay was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Edward Grandell Underwood; parents, George and Margaret (Geist) May; siblings, Delores (Oscar) Shafer, George May, Virginia (Frederick) Stanzel, Eileen Kosciolek, and Patricia Lloyd.
She is survived by her treasured family; her children Jody (Gene) Kim, Lorraine (David) Durinzi, SueAnn (Robert) Meddaugh, and Edward (Gloria) Underwood, Jr.; grandchildren, Julie (Alexander) Bielecki, Kyle Tellex, Gregory (Erin) Tellex, Zechariah (Mary) Underwood, Kate Durinzi, Elise Underwood, Abbey Fedison, Daniel (Olivia) Underwood, Samuel Underwood, Margaret Fedison, Maegan Durinzi and Elisabeth Underwood; great-grandchildren, Alexander and Ryan Bielecki, Matthew and Jane Tellex, and Avi Underwood; sister, Margaret (Robert) Kanaley; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Majors, Maria (Felton) Strickland and Rita May; brother-in-law, Ted Kosciolek, along with many nieces and nephews.
Kay was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, who selflessly gave and tirelessly cared for her family. Kay was an accomplished cook and baker, feeding hearts and nourishing souls. Kay’s grace and inner beauty will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
Kay’s family will receive friends on Friday August 9th 2019 from 5PM - 8PM at the Newcomer Cremations & Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd Rochester NY 14609. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10AM at White Haven Memorial Park in the All Seasons Chapel. Please meet at front gate.
