Obituary
Rochester, NY - Ronald M. Cicero, age 78, of Greece, NY, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021.
A native of Niagara Falls and graduate of Ithaca College, Ron was an esteemed trumpet player, music educator and administrator. He built Churchville-Chili’s High School music department from scratch; then served as the Department Chair for the School District. During his 30 year tenure, Ron led the marching band for the towns’ Memorial Day Parades, directed musicals, and hosted several NYSSMA and Monroe County music festivals. Under his direction, Ron’s students were recipients of “Superior” ratings in both state and national competitions. Ron’s impact led to the creation of a music scholarship in his name upon his retirement.
In the 70’s and 80’s, Ron played bass with the Trade Winds Four, entertaining countless parties, weddings and New Year’s Eve events. After retiring, he set up shop as Ron Cicero Music, providing Rochester area schools with instruments and accessories with a personal touch. While music was his love, he also enjoyed navigating the waters of Lake Ontario on his boat “The Water Dance”.
Ron is preceded in death by his mother Rose and father Peter; and survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret; his children Ron, Patrick and Alicia, five grandchildren, his nephew Tony, brother Michael and sister Sharon.
Calling hours are from 3 to 7pm on Thursday, April 15th at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 2636 Ridgeway Avenue.
