Rochester - Passed away peacefully at Highland Hospital on September 17, 2021 at the age of 72.
Most of you know that Connie has endured multiple chronic medical problems, some annoying and some terrifying, with episodic acute spells, over a span of decades. She endured them with a consistent focus on what she could do, not the limitations that they imposed.
After respite of two years with no hospitalizations, she experienced two new flare ups in the past month. She soldiered bravely through the first episode and after a hospitalization and rehab stint, appeared to have rallied yet again. Unfortunately, she was left without enough reserves to overcome the second episode. After a week in the hospital with little progress and even less hope for recovery, she switched to comfort care and passed quietly exactly as she had directed.
Connie never left any doubt about her wishes about anything and so there will be no viewing, calling hours or religious service. We will be holding a celebration of her life in about a week and a half. The details are being worked out now, but it is the intent to offer both in person and virtual options to participate.
Many of you met Bear and/or Coco and know of Connie's great affection for Great Pyrenees. If you are inclined, she would welcome a contribution to National Great Pyrenees Rescue (
The details have been worked out for both an in-person and virtual Celebration of Life for Connie. Either way, the event will be from 5:00 to 6:30 on Wednesday, September 29th, with gathering, chatting and sharing remembrances throughout and some brief remarks at 5:30.
As an incentive for in person participation there will be some light hors d'oeuvres and beverages on-site. Those at some distance or otherwise unable to attend are invited to prepare a light repast of their own.
The in-person event will be held at Glendoveers, 2328 Old Browncroft Blvd, Rochester, NY 14625. (For those who have been around for a while, this was the site where Connie and I got married and held our reception. Our anniversary would have been only a few days after this event, so the venue seemed more than appropriate.) In the spirit of good clean fun, we ask that those who come in person either be fully vaccinated or masked.
