1953 - 2021
Rochester- Donald R. Timkey’s life story ceased on October 14, 2021. He passed away peacefully and unexpectedly after a lengthy illness.
On July 2, 1953 Don made his grand entrance into this world with his twin brother Ron at his side. He weighed a grand total of 5lbs and 3 oz.
He was welcomed by his parents Raymond and Julia Timkey.
Don was an avid sports fan with the Buffalo Bills the Sabres and the NY Yankees at the top of his list.
He excelled in playing baseball in high school and college. Don was recruited by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1971. His dream of becoming a pitcher was short lived after a shoulder injury. He loved golfing with his friends and was elated getting his first ‘hole in one’ at the Links at Ivy Ridge, Akron NY, #12, using a three wood. Don graduated from Brockport State College with a Biology Degree. He worked at Eastman Kodak Company in Microscopy and retired in 2015.
Don had many interest but none more important than coaching his sons baseball, watching their hockey and lacrosse games and rooting on his daughter at soccer. He loved cooking and made a mean chili. Don liked “Dry chicken", lots of mayonnaise, his subs cut in quarters and an onion bagel with jalapeno cream cheese and bacon from Bruegger’s Bagels.
Don Married Jo Ann Bartus on October 8, 1983 in Lockport, NY.
They just celebrated their 38th Wedding Anniversary. Most of their married life they lived in Irondequoit, NY and Moved to Webster NY in 2016.
He had great pride in his three children, Jonathon, Sean, and Stacey. His greatest pride was his granddaughter, Audriana Grace “Boo”, and he will always be her “Pea- Pa”. Audriana loved rides on her grandpas motorized scooter.
Don also leaves behind his beloved "sidekick”, Autie, his Bernese Mountain Dog. They were true companions and were frequently seen together cruising around Maryview Drive.
Don’s Last wish was to walk his daughter, Stacey, down the aisle to meet her fiancé, Brandon Napierala on October 2, 2021. He took on that responsibility with gusto.
One of Dons’ favorite lines was “whoever invented ice cream was a happy man”. His last request on October 14, 2021 was apple pie ice cream.
Don is predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Julia, his brother, Charles Timkey, and his brother-in-law, George Emery.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jo Ann Timkey, his children, Jonathon Timkey, Sean (Eva Vasquez) Timkey, and Stacey (Brandon) Napierala, his granddaughter, Audriana, his siblings, Ronald (Vickie) Timkey, Sherrie Emery, sister in law, Gail Timkey his niece, Karen (Chris) Ogg, and a host of family and friends.
Thank you to his many friends and family who never forgot him even during the hard times.
