Peter L. Nicosia
1926 - 2022

Peter L. Nicosia, a longtime Xerox employee and lover of live music, died Saturday at Unity Hospital in Greece after a brief illness. He was 95.

Mr. Nicosia was born and raised in Rochester, the son of the late Michael and Mary (Terrana) Nicosia. He grew up on Brown Street and Jefferson Avenue in downtown Rochester before he and his parents moved to Greece about 50 years ago.

Peter graduated from Jefferson High School and served in the Army at the end of World War II and after, stationed in Germany. Back home, he soon started his career at Xerox in Webster, where he worked on copy machines for more than 30 years.

In addition to his parents, the mainstay of his life was socializing with friends at his favorite haunts, including the Lamplighter and the Marriott in Greece. He also enjoyed antique car shows with his buddies.

In retirement, he had a big circle of friends at Bosdyk’s Restaurant, Valicia’s Ristorante and Schooner’s Riverside Pub. He rarely missed a weekend night listening to singers – especially his favorite, Ernie Capone – and watching his friends dance. He drank no alcohol, only orange juice.

Peter is survived by his older sister Sarah Nicosia LaMendola of Greece; nieces Donna LaMendola Gloor (Richard) of Hilton and Karen LaMendola Kelly (Joseph) of Palm Harbor, Fla.; nephew Bob LaMendola (Debra Gibbs) of Coconut Creek, Fla.; as well as nine first cousins, three grandnieces, a grandnephew and six great-grand nieces and nephews.

Pre-deceasing Peter were niece Janet LaMendola Marvin (Paul) of Gates and brother-in-law Louis A. LaMendola of Greece.

Funeral services are being provided by New Comer Cremations and Funerals in Greece. A private burial service will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family is planning a memorial service to be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Peter’s name.
