Eleanor “Ellie” Nemeth, 77, daughter of Anthony and Zora Verbanic, passed away suddenly on August 13th after a well lived life.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Albert, her son Christopher (Rachel), grandchildren Austin and Madeline, many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She is predeceased by her sister, Elaine Plotycia.

Ellie was an elementary school teacher, spending her entire career with the Rochester City School District. When she retired she spent time traveling with Al and making friends wherever they went. She participated in the Eastside Garden Club, was a member of the YMCA, a Board Member of the George Eastman Museum, and enjoyed her Card Club.

Eleanor loved her family immensely. She and Al met in college at SUNY Geneseo where she was always the life of the party. Ellie was the love and light of Al’s life. She was a devoted mother to Chris, and her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy.
Ellie will forever be remembered for her bright smile and welcoming personality. She lit up the room wherever she went and left a lasting impression on all who met her.

Friends may call Friday, August 26th from 11am-1pm and 4pm-7pm at New Comer Funerals and Cremations 6 Empire Blvd. A funeral mass will be held for Ellie on Saturday August, 27th at Church of the Annunciation at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Church of the Annunciation or the George Eastman Museum.
