In Memory Of
Irene M. "Weezie" McCarty
1945 - 2022

Irene went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 28, 2022.

Irene is survived by her husband of 53 years, John; devoted children Rosemary, Owen and John (Briana).

Irene was born and raised in Newton Hill, Scotland, she arrived in Rochester in 1966. She worked in the Engineering Division of the Eastman Kodak Company as a secretary, that is where she met her husband when he arrived after college. In the mid 1980’s Irene started her own business cleaning houses in the Rochester area and after 40 years considered many of her clients close friends & family.

Most importantly she would want her deep faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ to be known. Each morning while having her pot of tea and toast with jam, she would read the Bible to start the day. She was part of several congregations over the years where many of her closest friendships began.

We traveled across the country 3 times with the kids visiting many national parks on the way. In the mid 1990’s she set off on her outdoor journeys with a passion. She loved to hike in the Adirondack mountains and summated all 46 high peaks making her ADK 46er number 5516. She walked 3 marathons and then set off to hike the Finger Lakes Trail end to end including all the branch trails and the entire length of the Rochester Greenway. When not doing long distances her favorite local parks were Oatka and Black Creek. Always looking for adventure she did a tandem skydive jump and parasailing at age 72 and she rappelled down the Kodak Tower at age 73.

Recently she spent many hours at the west side YMCA riding the bike and trying to swim during the winter months. After the exercise she spent a lot of quality time with the other guys from the gym and pool drinking coffee and having lots of fun sharing stories and tales.

Her sense of humor, beautiful smile, lively spirit while playing board & card games and her kitchen specialties of Bambi Chili, Harvest Loaf & Liver Casserole will be missed by all.

Family will receive friends 3 - 7 PM Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. Her Graveside Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Riverside Cemetery, 2650 Lake Ave, Rochester, NY 14612.

Her Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Covenant Life Church, 70 Bailey Road, W. Henrietta, NY 14586

In lieu of flowers please consider donations to: The Aurora House, Spencerport, NY.
