Dorothy M. Schneider - 93

Dorothy Schneider passed away on April 13, 2019, one day before her 94th birthday. She was born in Watertown, NY, the daughter of Robert and Edith Laemmermann and resided in Watertown until her retirement from NY Air Brake Co. in 1987. She then divided her time between Hudson, FL and Clear Lake, in the Town of Alexandria, until moving to Rochester in 2011, due to health concerns. She was a 1943 graduate of Watertown High School.

Dot was active throughout her life. Her favorite hobbies included sewing, gardening, swimming, and boating. She had an outgoing and fun-loving personality and played her share of practical jokes.

She is survived by a son Brooks (Gayle) Schneider, Rochester, grand-daughter Alicia Schneider, Tonawanda, soon to be grandson-in-law Jacob Rybak, Tonawanda, sister-in-law Marjory Laemmermann, Canandaigua, 2 nieces and 1 nephew. She was pre-deceased by her parents, 2 brothers, Robert and Donald Laemmermann, and 1 nephew. A marriage to Lester Schneider ended in divorce.

There are no calling hours and a memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

We would like to thank the staff at Mary Regina Memory Care and Wesley Gardens for the care and comfort they gave Dot during her final 8 years, as her dementia progressed.

Contributions in Dot’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Rochester and Finger Lakes Region, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620 or on-line.
