Mary Lou was born in 1932 to her parents Clarence and Alma Roth. In the 1950s, she began work at the Navy Ordinance Division at Kodak, where she met Charlie. The two were married in 1956 and moved to Webster to begin their life as a family. The two were involved in music together, with Mary Lou singing with the Sweet Adelines. More recently, she sang in the choir at Joy Community Church. She and Charlie were founding members of New Jerusalem Church, which later became Joy community.
