In Memory Of
Fred Francis LeWalter
1922 - 2021

North Chili – Fred left us on November 9th, 2021 at the grand old age of 99.

Fred had spent his life devoted to his wife, Jean, our mother, who predeceased him in March of this year at 95. They were married for 69 years. They are together again.

Fred was the only son of Fred W. LeWalter and Irene Demerath LeWalter, predeceased.

Fred is survived by his children, Karen (Paul) Walker, Todd LeWalter, Patrick (Jen Hornbuckle) LeWalter, grandchildren, Benjamin (Marcy) LeWalter, Brianna (Dimitri) Stojanov, Andrea (Tom) Kennell, Matthew (Gina) Walker, and his wonderful great-grandchildren, Filip, Rainna and Maksim Stojanov and Madelyn LeWalter.

Fred joined his father’s business, LeWalter Hardwoods, after a brief stint as a carpenter and having served as a mechanic in the Army Air Force in WWII. Fred became the sole owner after his father’s death. The business expanded under Fred resulting in the building of a new shop in Churchville, N.Y. Fred continued to work well into his eighties. The business is now in it’s third generation of ownership, under his son Patrick.

Fred was an active member for many years of the Irondequoit Elks Lodge 2054. He was Exalted Ruler from 1963-64, District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler from 1968-69 and a Youth District Chairman in 1967.

Both Fred and Jean were active members of St. Christopher Church and enjoyed many outings with their senior group, the Golden Agers. Fred decided in his 90’s to participate in the Church’s Broadway Night and participated this past August for the last time, singing Old Man River, for which he received a standing ovation.

A special thanks to Todd, his son, for lovingly caring for Fred during his last months. And to Rochester Regional Health for providing an outstanding visiting nurse, Mary, and the physical therapist, Kim. The family would also like to thank Churchville Chili Family Medicine for the their many years of providing top quality health care to both our parents. A special thank you to Timothy Clark, PA.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 18th at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester, N.Y. 14626 from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass for Fred will be celebrated on Friday, November 19th at 1:30 p.m. at St. Christopher’s Church, 3350 Union St., N. Chili, 14524 with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery with military honors. Masks are strongly recommended.

In lieu of flowers Fred asked for donations to be made to St. Christopher’s Church.
