ROCHESTER- Rhoda F. May T.O.C., 97, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald, her daughter, Patricia Petrie, her son, Lawrence May, her grandson, Michael Petrie, and three brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Marvin) Burgie, Rhoda Hutchison, Marion (Gary) Wille, Jerry May, and Aggie Page, her 17 grandchildren, her 29 great-grandchildren, her 4 great-great grandchildren, her brother, Robert Barry, her sister, Monica Barry-Hamann, and several nieces and nephews.

Rhoda was professed into the Third Order of the Lay Carmelites of Rochester many years ago under the guidance of Father John Healy. She was very involved as she became the Formation Director and eventually Directress of the Order.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at Crest Manor for their unwavering, loving care during these difficult times.

Donations may be made in Rhoda’s name to Carmelite Sisters, 1931 West Jefferson Road, Pittsford, NY 14534.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd., Rochester, NY 14609, on Monday, December 6, 2021 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 10:30am at Peace of Christ Parish at St. Ambrose Church, 25 Empire Blvd, Rochester, NY 14609. Burial will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester, NY.
