William W. Tschetter
Rochester - Passed away on March 11, 2023 at the age of 64.
Predeceased by his parents, Bud & Joan; sisters, Nancy Ortman & Mary Bachman.

He is survived by his siblings, Ed (Christine) Tschetter & Lynn (Chris) Ingraham; children, Billy, Johnathan, & Alexander; many nieces, nephews, & cousins

Bill's family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses, caregivers, wound care specialists, recreational therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, transportation drivers, social workers, as well as all the countless others at ElderOne who worked together as a team diligently caring for Bill daily to enrich the quality of his life.

As a side note, I'd like to share that Bill just loved to play Bingo that was overseen by Nicole, and it always made his day when he won a game and was thrilled to pick out a prize!

Family will receive friends 11am-1pm, Thurs. 3/23/23 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd, where his Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

I have known Bill for many years as his cousin. Bill liked being near the water. He grew up sailing and water skiing on Lake Ontario. Later as a young adult Bill bought a cottage next to his parents cottage. This brought Bill much pleasure and pride. Bill will be missed.

Tom and I spent many Holiday dinners with Bill talking about his garden he used to tend and his many recipes he would make. He loved those meals and always was the one to say grace. He always had a pleasant smile for you and we enjoyed the many outings we took with him when we were living in New York. He was a fan of the Red Wings ball club but usually talked to Lynn through most of the game. It was all good. Our sincere condolences to his family and special sympathy extended to Lynn who he was very close with and Chris who was always there supporting them both. Rest now Billy, no more pain, God has you now.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bill at the Jewish Home Adult Center a few years back.
Bill had his own little table with a group of friends and and loved and enjoyed playing
UNO for hours at a time. There were time sometimes I was able to join them a time or two.

Bill, absolutely loved to play Bingo here at the center and went on many outings including
our annual Picnics.

Bill's smile will sadly be missed by all of us; we all are thankful here at the center that we
had the opportunity and pleasure knowing him.

I remember Bill from our days at Listwood School. He was a very sweet kid and we often sat together for lunch in the All Purpose Room, powering through favorites like Chicken in a Basket and Pizza Buns. My sister Nancy and I were so very sorry to learn that he had passed away. We send our deepest sympathy to his family and friends at this difficult time.

Eddie, Lynn and families you are in our hearts and prayers. We were saddened to hear about Bill. I remember him smiling and happy as a little kid. He and Lynn were always together. When we would see him working at my Dad's home at Conesus Lake, it was always a treat. He, Eddie and crew were winterizing the house as the kids would be running around him asking him so many questions! Bill was very patient and sweet to them as always was his personality. We would get to catch up on the family events after the workday was over and enjoy the lakeside view. He seemed to love the clambakes and family reunions when we all got together. God Bless you Billy, as you start your new Eternal Life.

William Ward Tschetter

Bill was a sweet and gentle natured soul. All he wanted was for everyone to be happy and for all to be peaceful and calm. He firmly believed and welcomed everyone unfailingly into his heart and would exclaim “he is a really nice guy” or “she is a really nice lady”!
He had the unshakeable faith and belief that nobody could ever be “a bad person” or have ulterior motives.

Growing up on Circle Court, back when Rochester had “real winters” with lots of snow, the two of us would spend countless hours outside enjoying each other’s company building snow forts with our dog Spot, then proceeding to have full- fledged snowball fights. We were constantly outdoors playing cowboys and Indians in the woods behind our house or riding our bikes around the neighborhood. We played well together and often had to be told it was time to come inside. As we got older, we would downhill ski on weekends and then still later mom and dad decided to get in on the fun and learned to ski. Pretty gutsy to take up skiing at their age. That generated so much laughter amongst us! For a couple of years, we rented a cabin at Swain to ski for the weekend and celebrate Bills birthdays. Anybody who was available was always welcome to come and join in for the fun.

As a teenager Bill worked alongside Dad on the milk truck, to help make the deliveries. Later in life he also worked for Ed installing furnaces and air conditioners. Years later he could still recite verbatim what was done at so many of the homes ,businesses or churches that we would pass by. He was proud to work with his family.

Also growing up every summer Dad and Mom would pack up all (5) of us kids, invariably with our goldfish in a bowl being carefully balanced on someone’s lap, along with Spot as we spent many summers at Uncle Vincent’s cottage. There we created memories while living and loving our carefree days swimming, sailing, water skiing and fishing. Bill was amazing; I’ve never known anyone else who could water ski for so long or for as far as he was able to do. He had such long, lean, strong legs and could ski so gracefully, getting up on one ski, jumping the boats wake and never seeming to tire. He made it look so effortless. Often, after eating supper he would ski one last time for the day, into the setting sun with a gorgeous sky full of beautiful colors until we really, really had to get back to pull the boat while there was still some daylight left.

Later Bill bought a camper and kept it at Fair Haven, where mom, dad, Ed, Chris, Mary, Mike, Bill and I spent many weekends, again on the water by day, jointly creating dinners and enjoying family time around campfires well into the night. Thank you, Bill, for being the glue that held our family together during those special days in our lives!

Shortly after mom and dad bought their cottage, Bill purchased the cottage next door. Each summer he planted a large vegetable and flower garden, and of course, spent much of his time tinkering with whatever he could get his hands on.

Through the years he held many jobs mowing lawns, eventually shifting into food service positions. It was no secret that he was obsessed with food: shopping, cooking and eating it!

Ed and Chris opened their home to family for years and years hosting countless pool parties, cookouts, birthday parties, Easter brunches and Thanksgiving feasts. We were always grateful for those gatherings.

Bill was a very happy husband and a loving dad, a proud father of his boys.

Bill also looked up to my husband Chris with such admiration, respect, trust and love. When Chris talked, Bill truly listened. Chris would patiently explain the how’s and whys of things, and that would then make good sense. When Bill called and needed help, Chris stopped immediately whatever he was doing, grabbed the car keys and headed over to take care of whatever needed to be done. Bill knew he could always depend on Chris, and in Bills words, “Chris is a REALLY good guy”! Chris and I try to live our lives by the motto: Treat others as we would like to be treated.

Unfortunately, Bill developed diabetes, and was way too often hospitalized, in and out of nursing homes trying to get his feet to heal. He was a trooper and always had the faith that he would get better. He’d often tell me “I am doing the best that I can”. Many times, at the end of our phone conversations he would say “have a good day, OK?!”

I am thankful that for the last (2) years he was able to live in a beautiful studio apartment and attend adult day program through ElderOne. He was so proud and grateful to be living on his own, cooking his own meals, doing his own laundry and have peace and quiet.

Bill, I think it is remarkable all that you achieved and endured for so many years with so many of life’s challenges and obstacles, and yet you never complained or gave up. It has been quite the journey for you.

It was an honor to have you as my big brother in my life. May you continue to always be a kid at heart. I will always carry that image of you water-skiing into the sunset!
You are in the good loving and caring hands of God and resting alongside dad, mom, and Mary coming full circle with your family.

Know you are loved, rest in peace. Dream your sweet dreams.

My daughter and her children join me in sadness at Bill’s passing. Bill was a loving person. He enjoyed gathering at our Uncle Vincent’s home for Ward family reunions. Bill always had a warm smile and he will be missed. May he Rest In Peace.

Mostly I remember the family gatherings for holidays and birthdays. Bill was always ready to help out any way he could. From carving the turkey to saying grace before meals. He really enjoyed the nights that Lynn and I would take him to dinner, “just because”. He loved the trips to the Red Wings games…those were special times.

Bill had more than his share of setbacks and health issues. But he never complained…. Whenever you asked him how he was doing, rest assured he’d reply, “Oh, I’m OKAY!”

I’m happy you are finally reunited with your Mom, Dad, Nancy, and Mary. I know you are all having a big picnic somewhere, cooking out, water skiing, and enjoying a sunset.
