Alan Martin Stork, 86 years old, of Rochester, NY died at Rochester General Hospital on January 2, 2026.
Alan was born in Endicott, NY on December 29, 1939 to Lynn and Catherine Stork. His upbringing instilled in him a deep love for his family, bowling, and the Bills.
Alan met the love of his life, Ruth Shafer, at the U of R in an English class in 1957, and their friendship grew over the next couple of years in the marching band, where Ruth was in the percussion, and Alan played tuba. By 1960, they were dating, playing bridge, and building memories. They were married in Oak Park, IL in December of 1961. They returned to Rochester, and Alan began selling insurance. Two months before the birth of their first child, Lynn James in 1962, Alan began working nights at Delco Products. Their second child Emily Catherine was born in 1965, and Elizabeth Carolyn was born in 1968. The family moved to Henrietta, and Alan was the youngest employee to be promoted to Assembly Line Supervisor in 1968. He retired on April 1, 1992.
In retirement, Alan and Ruth had the gift of time, and they enjoyed taking cruises together, watching the Baltimore Orioles’ spring training, playing bridge with friends on the shores of Keuka Lake, golfing with friends and family, and bowling together and individually. Throughout his life, he was a proud member of several bowling teams, and bowled seven perfect games.
Alan is preceded in death by his wife Ruth, and his parents Lynn and Catherine. He is survived by his sister Carolyn Raimy, children Lynn Stork, Emily Stork (Jenni Werner), Elizabeth Stork (Yvette Stork), and grandchildren Rae Allison-Stork, Link Allison-Stork, Skye Freeman, and Casey Stork-Werner.
