Alice D. "Micki" Green

Micki passed peacefully at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center surrounded by her family.

Micki is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Betty Short. Siblings, Sally Benson and Charlie Short.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Green. Daughters, Michelle Mercurio and Dawn (Matthew) Green. Micki's grandchildren, Samantha, Garrett, Taylor and Jonathan-were the light of her life as evidenced by the care and attention she always provided them. They call her Nana. Micki also leaves behind her siblings, William (Debra) Short, Stephen Short, Deborah (Frank) LeoGrande and Audrea (Val) Triplett. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Micki loved life. She gave much of herself to everyone she loved, and it was easy to see the joy she gained from doing so. As a teenager, she was involved with the Emerald Cadets Drum & Bugel Corps, gaining many long-life friends.

Fresh out of high school Micki started her nursing career at Genesee Hospital and eventually moved to Rochester General Hospital where she spent the next 30-plus years of her career working in the OR on the heart team with her favorite surgeons and then moved on to be a nurse educator until several years prior to retirement.

During her career, Micki was the first recipient of RGH to receive the Florence Nightingale Award given to those who have shown exemplary services to public health. She was truly "the lady with the lamp". Micki could light up anyone's darkest day. She will be sadly missed by all.

The family will receive friends 4-6pm Thursday October 2, 2025 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. (west of Long Pond Rd.) Interment is private.
