Surrounded by family, Angela Barbara O’Connor (1934–2026) passed peacefully on February 2nd, 2026 in her beloved hometown of Rochester, NY.
The eldest of four children, Angela’s childhood was filled with the hustle and bustle of an Italian family filled with laughter, fun and Sunday sauce. She fell in love and married her childhood sweetheart who joined the Army and got stationed in Germany. It was there she gave birth to their beautiful daughter, Anne Marie. Moving back to the states, they settled down in East Irondequoit and had their precious son Robert aka Bobby.
Life was filled with family—the heartbeat of Angela’s home. Love expressed through celebrations and smiles, red pistachios that stained your fingers, her beautifully set table filled with specifically chosen dinnerware out of her vast collection for Christmas Eve’s feast of the seven fishes, playing Pokeno and Garbage for hours, pizzelle making, treats in the silver pewter dish on the coffee table, and her strong faith as you felt God’s love in every act of kindness. Her home was a gathering place filled with laughter, conversation, and comfort. A refuge. Whether family was seeking shelter from challenging times, needed a place to crash, or a pit stop on their journey through life—family was always welcome. Angela never thought twice about offering her home, hospitality, love, and comfort to anyone who needed it. She had a way of making you feel seen, heard, and valued and there was always a Pepperidge Farm cake ready to serve at a moment’s notice. Her smile felt warm and safe, her hugs could heal anything. Even the neighborhood birds and squirrels loved her, and she loved them right back!
Angela cherished spending time with her sister Kathy, especially on their Thursday girl’s night out—BINGO! No act of God could stop’em! And the bond of all the siblings stayed strong. Even living thousands of miles away Angela, Joanie and Frank wouldn’t miss their weekly heart to heart calls to stay close in connection.
Summertime was special too, filled with pool parties, playing rock the boat on giant inner tire tubes and eating fluffernutter with raspberry sandwiches. While the breeze whispered through dangling shell chimes, summer porch conversations lingered into the night. Yearly vacations were treasured at Edisto Island, enjoying family, sitting in the surf, and long beach walks collecting seashells—quiet, comforting and peaceful, just like her love.
Angela’s love for family was only rivaled by her love of God. Devotion to prayer and reading the Bible only strengthened her love for family and sustained her during hard times and inspired us all. We cherish the unconditional love she gave. Her life truly embodied, “Let all that you do be done in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:14) Though we grieve her loss, we are thankful for every moment we were able to spend with her. Mother, Nana, Sister, Aunt, Cousin or friend—she will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
Angela leaves behind a legacy that will continue through all who were blessed to know her. She is survived by her son Robert (Ann), grandchildren Stacie (Ricky), Christie, Nicholas (Ashley), Heather (Anthony), Christopher (Lauren), great grandchildren Alayna, Azalea, Logan, Jacob, Olivia, Micah, Santino, Elaina and Brian along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Angela was predeceased by parents Carl and Ida, sister Joan (Norman), daughter Anne Marie and former husband Robert.
