Barbara H. Smith January 30, 1945 – February 4, 2026

Barbara H. Smith of Monroe County, New York, passed away surrounded by love—the same love she gave so freely throughout her life. She was a devoted mother, a proud and deeply loving grandmother, and a woman whose kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished her children and grandchildren and supported them with unwavering love, pride, and encouragement. She had a quiet strength and a natural compassion that made others feel seen, cared for, and safe. Helping others came naturally to her, and she gave without ever expecting anything in return.

She found happiness in simple joys, especially square dancing, which combined her love of music, movement, and community. At her last residence, she was often called “the kindest lady there,” leaving a lasting impression on friends, caregivers, and all who shared time with her.

Barbara is survived by her devoted partner, William Lynch; her children, Daryl R. Smith and his wife Joelle, and Kristen Ervin and her husband Julian; and her beloved grandchildren Liberty, Haley, Faith Smith, and Teagan and Brooklyn Burda, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her beloved niece, Kristy Keyes Melnotte.

Barbara will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle presence, and unconditional love. Though she is deeply missed, her legacy of compassion, kindness, and devotion lives on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.

Interment will take place at White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford, New York. A celebration of life will be held in July and will be open to family and friends. Details will be shared at a later date.
