Alright, listen up, folks. Barbara “Joyce” Knoepfler, born on September 22, 1933, at 92 years young, decided it was time to check out of this world on May 31, 2026.
Barbara wasn’t your run-of-the-mill grandma. No sir, she was a spitfire—a fighter through and through—and she wore that badge proudly. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family. Don’t let that sweet side fool you though; she had a taste for adventure and knew how to treat herself. Casinos were her battleground and she played to win, and if you ever wanted to bribe her or just get on her good side, a good prime rib dinner was like waving a victory flag in front of her.
And there is one person who deserves a special mention: her granddaughter, Rebecca Belsher (Corey). For over twenty years, Becky was by Joyce's side through just about everything life could throw at them. She wasn't just a granddaughter, she was a best friend, chauffeur, shopping partner, casino sidekick, caregiver, and fierce advocate. The love and dedication she showed day in and day out helped Joyce remain independent, active, and full of life far longer than anyone could have expected. Simply put, Joyce wouldn't have been Joyce without Becky, and the family will always be grateful for the incredible care and devotion she gave so selflessly.
She lived life on her own terms, her children Ronald (Darlene), Michael (Laurie) and her sister Maureen (John) Allaston; along with her 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, can attest that she commanded attention with every word and action. These are the folks still carrying her fire within them.
But life wasn't always kind to Joyce. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alvin Belsher and John Knoepfler; her children Barbara Ann Belsher, William Belsher, and Robert Belsher; her sisters Sara Maranda and Patricia Miller; and her brother Melvin Allaston. Robert's husband, Bill Bombard, remained a cherished part of the family and held a special place in Joyce's heart. While the loss of so many loved ones left its mark, Joyce carried their memories with her and now joins them once again.
If you want to pay your respects and say your goodbyes without any fuss, the graveside service will take place at Holy Ghost Cemetery on June 13, 2026. It kicks off at 10:00 AM and wraps by 11:00 AM.
So, here’s to Joyce a grandma who was tough like leather, kind at heart, and unforgettable to those lucky enough to know her. The world’s got a little less spice without her around.
Rest easy, kiddo. You earned it.
