Barbara Steinmetz

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Steinmetz, who died on 07/12/2026 at age 84.

Born on 04/17/1942 in Rochester, NY, Barbara lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and love for family and friends. She was known for her epic Christmas Eve parties and found joy in crocheting and needlepoint in her younger years.

Barbara is survived by her sister Sandra DeWinde, her children David Usselman (Kim), Ann Marie Ortiz (Paul), and Kathy Bishop (Ian), 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, and was preceded in death by her brothers William, Gerald, and Robert, as well as her sisters Janet and Shirley. Their memories will be cherished by all who knew and loved them.

Calling hours and a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, 7/21/26, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626. Friends are invited to pay their respects from 4 - 6 PM and the Celebration of Life will follow immediately at 6 PM.

Though she is no longer with us, Barbara's love, compassion, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
