Listen to Obituary

Barbara Waite passed away on October 17, 2026, at the age of 79.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gary, and her parents, James and Rose Conti.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Adam (Nicole) and Jason (Kendra); her cherished grandchildren, Parker, Ava, Easton, Kiaya, Adley, and Landon; her siblings, Rita Altman, Patricia (David) Valle, Joyce Gallo, and James (Carol) Conti; and many loving extended family members and dear friends.

Born and raised in Rochester, Barbara built a life centered on family, faith, and caring for others. She attended Franklin High School before beginning her career at Lincoln First Bank, where she met Gary. The two were married on May 1, 1976, and went on to build a beautiful life together, filled with love, family, and lasting friendships. Barbara later worked in the Credit & Catalog department at JCPenney, where she became a familiar face over the years before retiring.

Barbara was a devoted mother and her sons’ biggest supporter. From their youth baseball days through their college playing years, she rarely missed a game, proudly cheering them on from the stands. Her love and unwavering support continued in her role as a grandmother, a role that brought her immeasurable joy. She treasured watching her grandchildren grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and spoiling them whenever she had the chance. For Grandma, there was nothing more rewarding than making her grandchildren happy.

Barbara’s faith was an important part of her life. As an active member of St. Salome’s Parish, she also devoted many years to teaching religious education, sharing her faith and helping guide generations of children.

Throughout their marriage, Barbara and Gary cultivated close relationships with neighbors and friends who, over time, became like family. Above all, Barbara treasured the time she spent with the people she loved. Whether supporting her sons, finding joy in her grandchildren, nurturing her faith, or sharing life with family and friends, she gave of herself wholeheartedly.

Barbara’s generous heart, steadfast support, and deep devotion to her family touched the lives of so many. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
