Ross, Berton E.
Rochester: 3/30/1922-12/4/2013. Predeceased by his wife, Mary C. Ross; 2 sisters and 6 brothers, Mary Alice, Elsa, Paul, Lewis, Harry, Gerald, Robert, Ronald. Survived by his daughter, Linda (Guy) Lovejoy and son, David (Carol) Ross; Niece Bonnie (Jeff) Dunning; 4 grandchildren, Lauren, Carter, Terra (Anthony) Caleb and Michael (Sarah) Ross and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin (Joan) Ross; 4 sisters-in-law, Joan Ross, Roselyn (Hoover) Vanlandingham, Gloria Ross and Phyllis Banks.
Berton worked for Corning Glass Works for 39 years at the main plant B and C factory and Big Flats. He served in the Air Force during WWII for 4 years as a airplane mechanic. The Air Force sent him to several schools for air mechanics which he loved. Berton enjoyed vegetable gardening, making maple syrup, fishing, deer hunting, cutting wood, working on cars and inventing mechanical devices. He enjoyed visiting with family and always remembered birthdays. His big laugh and smile will always be remembered.
Calling hours will be held Friday December 6th, 2-4 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. His Memorial Service will follow immediately. Private interment at Chapel Knoll Cemetery, Painted Post, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Honor Flight.
