Candice M. Murphy

Candi M Murphy 72, passed away on September 25, 2026. She was born on April 29, 1954.

Candi was a strong woman, a fighter, and a force of nature with a huge heart and an even bigger personality. She was unapologetically herself. Candi lived a good life, loved hard, and cared deeply for the people fortunate enough to be part of her life.

Caring for others came naturally to Candi. She was a caregiver by nature and by heart, always putting the needs of others before her own. She had a way of making people feel cared for, and helping others was simply a part of who she was.

Above all else, family was everything to Candi, and her grandchildren held an especially precious place in her heart. She loved watching her family grow and treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love for them will continue as she watches over them

Candi was the beloved daughter of Marlene V. Pierce, who survives her, and the late Harold J. Pierce.

She is survived by her daughter, Angie Kilmer; her grandson Richard James “RJ” Butts and his wife, Dakota; and her great-grandchildren Theo James, age 2, Bryson Lear, age 5, and Layla Lord, age 9. She is also survived by her grandson Jesse L. Butts and his wife, Brittany, and her great-grandchildren Kaiden, age 3, and Gracelynne, age 4.

Candi is also survived by her sister Kimberly Sennett; her nephews Jeff Pierce and Ron Sennett; and her sister and close friend Krista Stonewell, along with her nephew Aaron Stonewell and niece Brianna.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold J. Pierce; her late husbands James Alan Johncox and Johnathan Murphy, her sister, Pamela Fairman; and her niece, Randi Fairman. She leaves behind Pamela's children, her nephew Jerry Fairman and nieces Michelle and Alyssa Fairman, who will continue to carry her memory with them.

Candi leaves behind more than memories. She leaves behind pieces of herself in the people she loved, cared for, protected, and raised. Her strength, her heart, her fierce personality, and the way she loved will live on through her family.

She lived and loved hard, cared deeply, and left her mark on the people around her. Candi was simply Candi—and there will never be another quite like her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Candi’s friends, nurses, doctors, and counselors for the care, compassion, support, and kindness they showed her throughout her life. A special thank you goes to Monroe Community Hospital, whose staff provided Candi with not only exceptional care, but also love, comfort, dignity, and a warm, home-like atmosphere. The kindness and compassion shown to Candi during her time there brought comfort to her and to the family who loved her. Their presence and dedication will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.
