Rochester: Carl Edward Hanselman Jr. entered into rest on June 24, 2015 at age 86 after a year of failing health. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and wife of 35 years Lydia Hanselman.
Born in Forest Hill PA he attended a one room school house and made quite a man of himself. He worked for the American Can Company in Fairport NY for 48 years, and traveled all over the United States, South America, Puerto Rico and Korea and was well respected for his knowledge. He served in the Air Force and was a radio operator, later teaching the subject. Carl was a catcher for a semi-professional baseball team called the Sunbury Owls. His great loves were his family, his little dogs and sports. He will be greatly missed, but heaven has gained a special Earth Angel.
Predeceased by his parents, Carl E. and L. Gwen Hanselman; first wife, Amelia Aikey Hanselman; grandson, Sam Caswell; sister, P. Joan Spangler.
He is survived by his wife Lydia Samuel-Hanselman; sons, Wilbur (Ruth) Aikey, Carl J. Hanselman (fiancée, Lisa Kesel); daughters, Marie Hanselman, Judy Hanselman, Debra (Scott) Frarey, Ellen Sampson (David Purlee), Jenny (George) Bornstein-Lewis, Liza (Eric) Rochelson; grandchildren, Jacob, Joel, Abram, Rachel, Joseph (Nichole), Hannah (Bill), Jessika, Amanda, Rachel, Adena, Keith, Eric; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Samantha, Vincenzo, Madeline, Gavin, Evan, Ryan, Carson, Ryleigh, Elsa; aunt, Hazel Dieffenderfer.
Family will receive friends 4-7 PM Sunday June 28, 2015 at New Comer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. A celebration of his life will be held 10 AM Monday at the John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 50 Ward Hill Road, Henrietta. Interment, Pittsford Cemetery.
