Gates: After a courageous battle with cancer, Carmella passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at age 87. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard. Survived by her children, Leonard (Dee) Turrie, Elaine Brooks, Kathy Perovich; grandchildren, Mark (Ellen) Turrie, Lisa Reed, Shane and Chelsea Perovich; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jacob and Gina; sister, Mary (Frank) Barber; sisters-in-law, Mary M. Palumbo, Anna Turrie, Maria Palumbo; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. John Andolina and Dr. Alok Khorana for the extraordinary care given to Carmella during her illness.
There will be no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 13th at 10 AM at St. Helen's Church, 310 Hinchey Road. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Rochester, Lifetime Care, 3111 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY 14623 or to the James P. Wilmont Cancer Center, c/o Strong Memorial Hospital, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620.
