Catherine L. (Birdsall) Quinn
Catherine L. Quinn, 44, of Rochester, NY, died peacefully Wednesday morning, June 25, after a courageous 2-year battle with cancer. She was born in Stamford, Connecticut on October 10. Cathy graduated from G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, NY, and went on to attend SUNY-Oswego. Cathy eventually settled proudly into her little cape cod in Rochester. She also attended Monroe Community College.
Cathy is survived by the love of her life, Scott Barraco of Ogden, her mother, Paralee (Long) Murphy of Paxinos, PA, her father, Don Birdsall of Port Charlotte, FL, a brother, Robert, of Boston, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many, many heartbroken friends, from all corners of the earth and all walks of life. She is also survived by her beloved pets: her dogs Freedom and Jack, and her cats, Itty, Daisy, Sterling, Ethan, and her newest additions, Shelby and Mouse.
"Quinny" was a long time employee of QED Technologies in Rochester, where she developed lasting friendships, both locally and around the world. She had a reputation as a problem solver at work and at home. She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, and her unfailing honesty and loyalty. She prided herself on being "the hostess with the mostest;" She was an avid cook and loved to prepare wonderful meals long after cancer took her own ability to eat. Quinny demonstrated her remarkable strength, courage, and humor in her blog, owmytongue.blogspot.com, in which she chronicled her fight with cancer. She was an inspiration to those who knew her and those who did not. She will be dearly missed.
There will be a memorial gathering at New Comer Funeral Home (Westside Chapel), 2636 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester, NY, on Sunday, June 29, from 2-5 PM. In lieu of flowers, Cathy has requested that donations be made to Four-Legged Friends Animal Adoptions, Inc PO Box 22861 Rochester, New York 14692. The website is www.4-leggedfriends.net.
