Charles D. Pennica

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Charles (Butch) Pennica. Age 80. of Rochester.NY, June 13.2026 marked the end of his 2 ½ year courageous hard-fought battle with Glioblastoma.

He was predeceased by his Mother Reta Goebel; his father Joseph Pennica.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia. His son, Derek Joseph (Linda), daughter, Melissa Ann (Kevin). Grandsons Cameron Charles, Jeremy Joseph, Matthew Michael Daniel; sisters, Barbara & Denise; brother, Kenneth; many nieces, nephews, cousins, family; & many, many, many dear friends.

His love of and dedication to his family and his quick wit and sense of humor was obvious to the very end.

Butch loved all sports and was an avid bowler in his younger days, averaging in the 200’s. In his later years he loved playing golf and was a member of Thendara Golf Club in Old Forge. His short game was the envy of all those that played with him.

His biggest legacy he leaves behind his love and dedication of 36 years volunteering tor the Spencerport Sports Booster Club. He diligently ran the concession stand like it was his own business. He spent countless hours shopping and picking up the best food items so the Ranger burgers were top notch and the candy and snack items were always what the kids wanted. For his efforts and dedication and service to this program he has received The Golden S Award. The "pops' Dennis Award. An Annual Female Scholarship Award in his name, and the concession stand has been dedicated in his name -The Charles (Butch) Pennica concession stand. He served well and made his family proud.

We cannot give enough thanks to all who helped us on this long journey. From the unbelievable medical team at Wilmot Cancer Center, the U of R Home Hospice dedicated team members, the unbelievable compassionate and caring, mostly volunteer group at Patrick Place. And of course, our huge network of family, friends, neighbors and endless support people who were always there for us. The words of support, encouragement, offers to help, hugs, laughs, tears, food, little gifts, - all were so helpful to get us through. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

A celebration of life will be held to honor Butch on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Brooklea Country Club, 891 Pixley Road, Rochester, NY 14624

Eats and drinks throughout the event. A few words about Butch presented bv family around 2:00 pm. Please RSVP to a family member.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Butch's memory to Patrick Place and The Charles (Butch) Pennica scholarship.
