Connie Mourgides

Connie Mourgides, 99, of Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026. Born on May 25, 1927, in Astoria, New York, to Harry Petros Kostir and Rose Kostir, Connie lived a life defined by unwavering faith, tireless work, and an unconditional love for her family.

Connie began working in her parents’ neighborhood market at the age of 7, where she developed the work ethic that defined her life. After holding several executive secretary positions, including at Pan American Airways, she joined Citibank, where her determination and perseverance led her to become Vice President of Student Loans at Citibank. A devoted Greek Orthodox Christian, Connie was known for her strength, kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family. She found great joy in cooking, baking, gardening, and creating a home where family was always welcomed with love.

Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve George Mourgides. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Nick Mourgides and Emily Mourgides; her grandchildren, Carlos, Michael, Andrew, Matthew, Alec, Ben, and Karas; her great-grandchildren, Myah, Liam, Mateo, Phoenix, and Kallina; her sisters, Katy, Helen, and Stella; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

A Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit, 835 South Ave., Rochester, NY 14620, then proceeding to burial at White Haven Memorial Park, 205 Marsh Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the home of Emily Mourgides.
