Daniel "Dan" James Frank, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and companion, passed away peacefully in his home on June 23, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on March 2, 1951, Dan lived a life rich with love, kindness, and a passion for family.
Dan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. While at Cornell, he was a member of the Chi Psi Fraternity where he made lifelong friends. His Cornell degree laid the foundation for a career marked by commitment and resilience. His unwavering dedication to his work remained evident up until his passing.
A proud family man, Dan raised his daughters, Elise (Steven) Sellinger and Lauren (Jason) Julius, in Pittsburgh, a city that held a special place in his heart. Dan, alongside his former wife Pamela Linnon-Flinn, shared countless family memories. Above all he cherished being a father, always his daughters’ biggest supporter and mentor.
As a devoted grandfather, he truly loved the moments spent with his grandchildren, Audrey and Connor Sellinger, and Taylor and Hannah Julius. Known for his adventurous spirit, he never hesitated to say yes to new experiences, earning him the reputation as a grandpa who was always ready for a memorable outing, staying true to his motto, "No Down Time."
Dan's interests extended beyond family; he was an enthusiast of sports with a particularly impressive collection of sports memorabilia, affectionately referred to as "The Franksonian". He balanced his time with hobbies that included golfing, fishing, and biking, often organizing group trips that fostered camaraderie and created lasting friendships. These activities ultimately blossomed into cherished memories that truly enriched his life.
He is survived by his beloved daughters and grandchildren, as well as his brothers, Gerry (Joy) Frank and Tom (Lois) Frank. Dan’s companion for many recent years, Flora McEntee, was his steadfast companion, bringing lots of warmth and joy into his life. Additionally, Dan is remembered by many nieces and nephews, who will carry forward his spirit of adventure and love for family.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, William and Emily Frank, as well as his sister, Sally Frank. The legacy he leaves behind—rooted in hard work, love of family, and the pursuit of adventure—will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.
