Dave passed away on August 14, 2026, with his sisters by his side and after a long journey with many complex health issues. Born on March 25, 1971, in Rochester, NY, David was the son of the late Elizabeth Hegeman and Gordon Hegeman.

David spent his formative years in Hamlin and Brockport, NY, where he graduated from Brockport High School in 1989. After High School he continued his education at Bryant and Stratton, earning an associate's degree in Electronic Technology in 2002. David worked at Ambrell Induction Heating Solutions, where he worked as a test technician for over a decade until 2018, when he became disabled due to his health.

David was a man of deep passions and varied interests. He loved football and the Buffalo Bills! His love for playing Dungeons & Dragons was well-known among his friends. He also enjoyed a good competitive hand of Euchre. He bowled many strikes when playing in the leagues at Brockport Bowl. He also enjoyed golfing. As a true animal lover, Dave had a particular affection for animals but especially dogs and wolves.

Those who knew David will fondly remember his sarcastic sense of humor and his fearless honesty. He embraced life on his own terms.

David is survived by his sisters, Kim Corpus and Amy Gaesser, as well as his beloved nephews and nieces: Brendan O'Connor (Christine Vines), Erin Schaller (Luke), Korey Corpus, Kris Corpus (Hannah), and Katy Corpus. As well as, his great-nephew and niece, Orion and Athena Schaller.

Calling hours to honor Dave's life will be held on August 23, 2026, from 1:00 - 4:00 PM with a remembrance service starting at 3:15 at New Comer Cremations & Funeral, located at 6 Empire Blvd, Rochester, NY 14609. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and wear Buffalo Bills Attire or colors to honor and celebrate the life of Dave.

In lieu of flowers, Dave requested that donations be made in his memory to: The Wolf Mountain Nature Center, 562 Hopkins Crandall Road Smyrna, NY, 13464, reflecting his lifelong passion for wolves, animals, and nature.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Thayer and the nurses Sydney, Sarah, and Colleen at URMC MICU 7-1600. Your compassion, kindness, and dedication have touched our hearts deeply, and we are eternally grateful for your support during Dave's final days.
