David R. Wandel

David R. Wandel passed peacefully and went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 86 years old at the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center.

 David was predeceased by his parents Charles and Eva Wandel along with 6 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ella Jane Wandel, sister Marilyn Wandel, daughter Kristine Reed, sons Gary Wandel and Brent (Belinda) Wandel; grandchildren Ben Reed, Kourtney Reed, Shelby Wandel, Tyler (Abby) Wandel, McKenzie (Steve) Johnson; and great grandchildren Ferguson Wandel, Theodore Johnson and Rose Wandel, along with many nieces and nephews.

David was a loving, caring and faithful husband, father and grandfather. He made many sacrifices for his wife and children, often working multiple jobs. David worked as a machinist at Lightenin Mixers for 35 years. He also worked for Lifetime Assistance for several years transporting individuals with developmental disabilities.

David was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan throughout his life. He loved old cars and shared that passion with his sons and granddaughter. David’s happy place was horseback riding, which he did until he was 75 years old.

David was a generous man who often put others first. If he saw someone in need he did not hesitate to do what he could do to help. At the age of 85 he could be found shoveling someone’s sidewalk, cleaning off their car or mowing a neighbor or family member’s lawn. David was always eager to serve others. David was one of those people that made a great impact on the lives of so many people and will be greatly missed.

He had a strong faith and consistent walk with his Savior Jesus Christ. He knew his destiny would be in heaven with God and he found great peace in that.

Upon Davids request, there will be no calling hours or service. A celebration of life and burial will be scheduled later. On behalf of the Wandel family, we truly appreciate all your prayers, love and support during this time. Thank you.
