Derek N. Burnett

Derek N. Burnett, born on December 20, 1980, in Rochester, New York, departed this world on September 7, 2025. His journey through life was marked by a deep love of family and pets, reflecting a warm and caring spirit that touched all those fortunate enough to know him.

Throughout his career, Derek enjoyed working at a variety of different fast food restaurants, where he made countless friends and memories. His delightful demeanor and sense of humor brought joy to many, making the workplace a brighter place.

Derek's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his beloved mother, Mary (Peter) Lacey, and his father, Harold (Joyce) Burnett, who cherished him deeply. His siblings, Mandy Burnett, Kevin Burnett, Amy (Eddie) Gonzalez, and Christina (Peter) Lacey, will hold close the memories of laughter and love they shared with him. The bonds he formed with his many nieces and nephews were a source of great happiness in his life, and they will forever remember their Uncle Derek as a vibrant and caring presence. Derek was also predeceased by his grandmother and grandfather Barbara and Salvatore Battaglia, grandmother Clara Hough and brother Shane.

As we gather to honor Derek's life, we will remember him not only for his love of family and pets but also for the warmth he brought to every interaction. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will be held in his honor on September 16, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, Westside, located at 2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626. In this time of reflection, let us celebrate the beautiful memories Derek leaves behind, carrying forward his legacy of love and kindness.
