Doris was born in Syracuse NY on January 16, 1924 to her parents Thomas and Florence (Crane) Walsh. Doris grew up on Tipperary Hill in Syracuse. Upon graduation from Central High School she attended Powelson Business Institute and graduated with a secretarial degree. Doris worked as an executive secretary for Carrier Corporation. She thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of flying and the comradery of her fellow airmen. She said she never turned down an opportunity to fly.
On July 23, 1955 Doris married James E. Schneible. She moved to Red Creek with Jim where he was employed as a teacher. Together they raised four children, Carol S. Palmer, Peter J. Schneible (Amy B. Spitzer), Paul J. Schneible and Thomas J. Schneible. In addition to all the things a mother of four does, Doris spent untold numbers of hours in the stands of various sporting events cheering for her children. As her children grew up Doris returned to work as the principal's secretary in the elementary school. In her spare time she enjoyed playing golf. Doris also volunteered at the local library.
