LIFE REFLECTIONS

Dorothy W. Scott was born August 22, 1944, in Columbus, OH. To the late Charlie (Peter) White and the late Leila Harrington. She was called suddenly home to be with her Heavenly Father on May 31, 2025.

Dorothy was educated in the Manatee County Public school system. Dorothy became interested in music and learned to play the piano. She played the piano for two church choirs for several years. Dorothy graduated from Lincoln Memorial High School in 1962. She received her associate’s degree from Gibbs Junior College in St. Petersburg, Fl. In 1964.

Dorothy and Rohalia were united on January 29, 1965, and remained married for 60 years to the love of her life. Dorothy moved to Rochester, NY, in 1968 and was employed by Rochester Business Institute and worked in the educational system. She later retired from Eastman Kodak in 1982.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior of her life in 1981 and in 1998 became a faithful member of Greece Assembly of God. She had a ministry where she sent encouraging cards to members of the church family who experienced loss, were hospitalized and shut-ins. Her mother (Leila Harrington-Ackerman) always said, “Wherever you go somewhere, look nice and put on a little lipstick, even if you are only going to the mailbox”. She always took that to heart because wherever she went, she would look good and well dressed. She always advocated eating healthy foods and taking daily vitamins. Dorothy and her husband would always say a nightly blessing prayer to one another which she held close to her heart.

She was a loving, protective mother of one daughter and the most wonderful, encouraging grandmother of two granddaughters. She was a great example of how to live a God-fearing life for everyone who knew her.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charlie White and Leila Harrington-Ackerman; her sister, Jean Delores Ellenwood; her brother, Charlie White (Juanita); her first cousin/brother, Ferrone Tarver; sister-in-law, Mary Denise (Bellamy) Scott-Jenkins.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her precious memories: Her loving husband, Rohalia Scott: Her daughter, Jona Duval (Damon); Two loving grandchildren; Coren Mclaughlin and Journee Duval; One brother of Florida, James White (Jeanette); One Brother-in-law, Garfield Ellenwood (Janette); Six nieces who were dear to her heart; Kimela Ellenwood, Bridgette Ellenwood, Fern Ellenwood, Asonte Ellenwood (Rochester, NY), Ila Scott (Durham NC.), Deborah Payne (Donald) (Florida); Seven nephews of Florida, Russell White (Eleanor), Charlie Anthony White, James White Jr. (Trish), Jarvis White, Willie Charles Scott, Sheddrick Scott (Sharon), Andre Scott.

She also leaves her lasting love and special memories for her very special friends; Betty Crawford-Mann, Pat Lord, Sister Sharpe, Tina Williams, Lois Davis, Freda Bellamy, Fran Clifton, Denise McCauley, Dianne Allen Banjo and a host of great and grand nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

On Saturday, June 14th, at the Greece Assembly of God, 750 Long Pond Rd, there will be calling hours starting at 11AM and funeral service at 12PM with entombment at Riverside Cemetery to follow.
