Douglas Lynn Shirley
Rochester, NY: formerly of Ogdensburg, NY, died unexpectedly Monday, July 25, 2011 at age 42 at his home. He was born on June 17, 1969, in Oswego, NY, and attended schools in Harrisville, Morristown, Herman-DeKalb, and Mexico, NY, and graduated from Mater Dei College in Ogdensburg, NY.
He was a counselor with Creative Wellness Coalition, Rochester, NY. Douglas was gentle, compassionate, and always thought about others first. He enjoyed spending time with his pet dove, Romeo, and fishing.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia M. Stevens, Ogdensburg, NY; father, David Shirley, Southern CA; brother, Andrew Shirley, California, MD; sister, Sharon Shirley, Branford, CT; grandmother Elsie (Cates)Shirley, Sandy Creek, NY; great aunt and uncle Francis and Helen (Cates) Macri, Cicero, NY; great aunt Beula (Shirley) White, Oswego, NY; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his nieces, Megan and Hannah, whom he especially loved.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Nemo H. and Amy Katherine (Shaw) Stevens, and his paternal grandfather, Arnold David Shirley.
Family will receive friends Saturday, July 30th from 1-3 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. where a Memorial Service will immediately follow calling hours at 3 PM.
