Listen to Obituary

Duane N. Schepler, beloved husband and best friend of Robin Schepler (Webster), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, after a brief illness at Strong Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Duane’s presence brought warmth, humor, and kindness to everyone who knew him.

Born to Kenneth and Lois (Klinke) Schepler, Duane grew up in Kent, NY and graduated from Kendall Central School District in 1973. He continued his education at Genesee Community College, earning his degree in Communications in 1976. This launched a lifelong career in broadcasting and audiovisual work. Duane started in radio, worked at all four local television stations and later handled remote uplink trucks for Roberts Communication. He eventually joined the Finger Lakes Racetrack & Casino as their Audio-Visual Director. Although he retired, the casino community drew him back after COVID, and he continued working there until his passing.

Duane was deeply rooted in his faith and community as an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Outside of work, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren in NY and MN. Duane enjoyed relaxing with Robin at the casino and at many of the local watering holes where he was well-known and warmly welcomed.

Duane and Robin were high school sweethearts who had been together since the ages of 14 and 15. They were married in 1975 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone that reflected their lifelong devotion to one another. Their love and partnership were the center of Duane’s life. He loved people, loved life, and was known for giving the very best hugs—something his family and friends will forever miss.

Duane is survived by his loving wife, Robin; his children Adam (Tina) Schepler and Trisha (Rob) Anderson of MN; and his cherished grandchildren Ashley (Nicholas Salway) Schepler, Greg (Molly) Schepler, Hannah Anderson, and Connor Anderson. He is also survived by his brother David (Diane) Schepler; sister Cheryl (Kurt) Fishbaugh; sisters-in-law Alma Gilman, Cathy (Bill) Terwilliger, and Sharlene (Stormy) Sorg; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he adored.

He was predeceased by his parents; his father and mother-in-law Dan and Jean Webster; brothers-in-law Danny Webster, Fred Gilman, John Sorg; and sister-in-law Roxy Webster.

Duane’s life was defined by love, loyalty, humor, and generosity. His absence leaves a profound void, but his memory will continue to bring joy and comfort to those who were fortunate enough to know him.

There will be no prior calling hours. A service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church in Kendall on Saturday, December 20th at 1 p.m.
