Elizabeth A. "Betty" D'Hondt

Passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the age of 79.

Daughter of the late Stephen and Margaret Calek. 

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert F. D’Hondt; brother, Stephen R. Calek; children, Ron Fontaine Jr., Rebecca Imperial (Chris Imperial), Rob D’Hondt (Blair Germain); grandchildren, Benny and Nori; niece and nephews (David, Dawn, Mark, Shawn).

Betty retired as an Office Manager from Marketplace (Car Dealership). She had a gift for putting others at ease, often making sure they were okay before herself. She cared deeply not only for her family and friends, but also for the people she encountered in her daily life, often striking up conversations, remembering small details, and offering genuine kindness to anyone in her path.

She also had a deep love for animals. Over the years she rescued and cared for many animals, and her home was always filled with beloved pets, including cats, dogs, birds, fish, lizards, bunnies, guinea pigs, and even rats; all of whom she cared for deeply.

Her warmth, attentiveness, and quiet generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends from 12–3 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at New Comer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. (corner of Culver Rd.)
