Ello Dennis of 275 Thurston Road, Rochester, New York was born on April 7, 1928 in Anderson, County to the late Tedora Sloan-Dennis and John Lewis Dennis. She departed her life on October 27, 2012 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York.

She graduated from Liberty Center School in Iva, South Carolina.

She worked for the Wells family for over 50 years and retired from General Motors as an inspector after 30 years. Being the matriarch of the family, together both she and Walter Gaines raised two daughters along with Walter's siblings.

She attended True Light COGIC and was a devout member of her church. She served on the mother board, the Christina Woman Council, and women choir at COGIC. Ello also belonged to many other clubs and enjoyed traveling.

She leaves to cherish one daughter Helen (Hugh) Irby, two grandsons; Mark Gaines and Peter James Barkley (PJ) three great granddaughters; Taaj Gaines, Teleza Rivera (Tellie), and Zaylani Barkley, two sisters Vivian (Roy) Williams and Elease (Jerry) Clinkscale both of Anderson, South Carolina. She leaves to mourn special family members; Pastor Emily Anderson, Leila Mae-Thomas, James Gaines, Amos (Beverly) Gaines; nieces Delores, Denita, Rhonda and Diantha as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by Walter Gaines, daughter Wendy Jean Gaines-Barkley; one sister Lizzie Lee Dennis and three brothers; Joseph Dennis, Clinton Dennis and Luther Dennis Sr.
