"Serge"
Rochester: Passed September 11, 2012 at age 65. Predeceased by both sets of grandparents in the Holocaust; his father, Alexander Rosenfeld; and brother, Alfred Rosenfeld.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Ritzenthaler Rosenfeld; mother, Marie Rosenfeld of Royal Palm Beach, FL; son, Gabriel (Ilana) Rosenfeld of NYC; daughters, Erika (Chad) Glende of Rochester, NY, Emily (Dan) Vanderven of Surprise, AZ, Alexandra Sarkozy of Rochester; grandson, Dylan Glende of Rochester; sisters, Liliane (David) Grossman of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Vivian Timko, Aliza Mindancer and Irene Schwind all of Sarasota, FL; brother, Nathan Rosenfeld of Sarasota, FL; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Serge was the oldest of 7 children born to Holocaust survivors in Paris, France. He left France for Israel in 1948. In 1963, the family moved to the United States. Serge spoke several languages and was from a very musical family. He was a violinist, vocalist and played the accordion in his own band - The Rochester Klezmer Band. He also played with the Haimishe Klezmer Band and The Fiddlers of the Genesee. He managed the Brighton Symphony Orchestra for 5 years. Serge attended the U of R, Syracuse University, St. John Fisher and Monroe Community College. He was employed with Roberts Wesleyan College.
A period of mourning will be observed on Friday, September 14th, 3-7 PM at 140 Virginia Avenue in Rochester. Private services will be held at a later date.
