Frances Mae Pickens

June 5, 1934 — February 15, 2015

Frances Mae Pickens (Sanfratello)

Rochester: Beloved mother, grandmother, and dear friend to so many, passed away on February 15, 2015 at age 80, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Fran was born in Batavia, New York, and was a lifelong resident of the Rochester area. She received a bachelor's of science degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo, and later earned a master's degree in instructional technology. For many years she worked as a hematology technician at Genesee Hospital. Fran's outgoing nature, sense of humor, and love of life brought joy to many. Her love of animals brought happiness to many pets and animals to whom she was a loyal friend. Her guiding principles are best summed up in the question she asked many people and animals over the course of her life- "How can I help you?" Fran was preceded in death by her parents Vincent and Virginia (Marone) Sanfratello; brother, Angelo Sanfratello, and her former husband, Gerald Pickens. She is survived by her loving sons, Scott (Annejanette) of Washington, DC, and Kent of Rochester; grandchildren, Annalina and Scott William Pickens.
