Listen to Obituary

It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, artist and faithful servant of God with a deep devotion to Mary, the blessed Virgin Mother.

A man of unwavering Catholic faith, he lived his beliefs not only in prayer, but in kindness, humility and quiet generosity. His life was a testament to devotion – most especially to his beloved wife of 63 years, with whom he shared a partnership rooted in enduring love, laughter and steadfast commitment. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, faith and the kind of joy that only deep companionship can bring.

He was a creative spirit, expressing himself through art, music and craftsmanship. A talented guitarist and musician, he could often be found filling the room with song that reflected both his soul and his sense of playfulness. His hands were rarely still – whether sketching, painting or meticulously crafting model ships that captured both precision and imagination, creating memories for generations. Each piece he created carried a part of him: thoughtful, detailed and full of character.

Above all, he cherished his family. He loved his three children deeply and took immense pride in the lives they built. His grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy and he delighted in their laughter, their curiosity and every moment spent together. He was a steady presence – supportive, attentive and always ready with a story, a lesson, or one of his famously clever puns.

Indeed, his wit was one of his most endearing qualities. He had an uncanny ability to find humor in the everyday, often delivering puns with perfect timing and a twinkle in his eye. His humor brought lightness to those around him, and will be fondly remembered as one of his many gifts.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith, creativity, love and laughter. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on in the lives he touched, the art he created, the music he shared and the family he so deeply loved.

May he rest in eternal joy in the arms of our blessed Mother and in the peace of Christ.

Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elaine Montrois. Children, Patricia Montrois, James (Heather) Montrois, David (Cara) Montrois.
