Genevieve Dardenne

April 22, 1929 — April 23, 2013

Rochester: April 23, 2013 at age 84. Survived by children, Linda (Gerald "Buzz") Mantegna of Spencerport, Robert (Deb) Dardenne of Branson, MO, Ken "Chris" (Veronica Miller) Dardenne of Irondequoit, Mery (Dick) McEvoy of Macedon, Pat (Curt) Sprentall of Naples, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Dallas Benedict, Earl (Monica) Benedict, Gary (Norma) Benedict, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Robert T. Dardenne, siblings and their spouses Edith (Harold) Worden, Bea (Sam) Jackling, Doug (Lois) Benedict, Gene (Jeanie) Benedict, and sister-in-law Carol Benedict.

Sis grew up in Chili, and was a 1946 graduate of Madison High School. She played for Van's T.N.T. girls' softball team, the 1943 champions of Rochester, NY, and the 1945 Mid-Atlantic champions. She was also a playground supervisor and election inspector in Honeoye Falls where she lived for many years and raised her family on Amann Road. Spring would always find her ready to start her large vegetable and flower gardens. Watching birds was a favorite pastime and her Peterson Guide was always at the ready. Annual fall trips with her husband were among her favorite times. When Robert retired from the Monroe County Sheriffs' Department in 1979, they moved to a woodsy home in Wayland, NY."Sis" retired as a rural letter carrier from the Honeoye Falls and Rush Post Offices where her route encompassed 68 miles. She was a devout Christian, choir member and soloist in her churches. Sis enjoyed the yearly reunions with her siblings and cousins, but especially the holiday gatherings and annual Clambake with her own immediate family of 52.

It may be of interest to note that "Sis" and her mother shared the name Genevieve. They also shared the same birthdate, April 22,
and they both died on April 23, twenty-two years apart.
