Gerald Balfour Frith, a cherished husband, father, and friend, left this world peacefully, enveloped in love.
.
Born on February 3, 1932, to Revan and Francis Frith in Mount Prospect, Manchester, Jamaica, Gerald’s journey began at Huntley Primary School, where his thirst for knowledge took root.
In 1957, seeking greater horizons, Gerald made the brave decision to leave Jamaica for Broomfield, Connecticut, where he worked at Camp Windsor. Four years later, he moved to Rochester, New York, a pivotal moment in his life, where he met his soulmate, Eula Mae Frith. They were united in marriage on April 15, 1962, creating a loving partnership that thrived on shared dreams and mutual respect.
Gerald dedicated himself professionally to CJ Grove Construction Co. and later to LaChase Construction Company, serving as a proud member of Local 435. As he changed career paths, he flourished at General Motors, where he served as a tow-motor operator for two decades before retiring.
Family was at the heart of Gerald’s life. He was instrumental in supporting Eula with her home daycare, often transporting children to and from school. His culinary skills brought joy to those around him, as he prepared beloved West Indian dishes like curry goat and oxtails. An active member of St. Paul Believer's Holiness Church, Gerald enjoyed singing in the men's choir and serving on the usher board, both of which contributed to the community he cherished.
Gerald was known for his sharp wit and humor; his jokes never failed to bring a smile to faces. Honesty and integrity defined his character, and he was held in high regard by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He leaves a rich legacy of love, laughter, and generosity that will forever resonate in the hearts of family and friends. Gerald was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Eula Mae Frith, and by his parents, Revan and Francis Frith, and his siblings, Lucille, Adele, Rupert, Baris, Ernest, Clinton, and Eva. He is survived by his daughters, Doreen Warmington (Denroy) and Marilyn Frith-Frances, and his sons, Deacon Gerald Frith Jr. (Vickie) and Ronald Frith. Brother Vincent Frith, Sister Inez Frith, 12 Grandkids, 20 Great Grands, and 1 Great-Great grand child.
Calling hours will be held from 9:30-11:00am Saturday February 14, 2026 at Saint Paul's Believers Holiness Church, 63 Thomas St. Rochester, NY 14605. A funeral service will begin directly after visitation at 11am. Interment Grove Place Cemetery.
Gerald will be greatly missed, but his spirit will live on in all who were touched by his warmth and kindness.
