Gerald "Jerry" Rodrigues, aged 77, passed away peacefully on September 26 2024, in his hometown of Rochester, NY. Born on June 22, 1947, Jerry a cherished member of his community and a beloved family man, leaving behind a legacy filled with love and fond memories.
Jerry dedicated several decades of his life to a rewarding career, retiring from Eastman Kodak in 2003, and later from his role as a Lift Bus Driver in 2008. Throughout his life, he found joy in various pastimes, including poker, golf, and summer pool days, along with a passion for deer hunting and shark tooth collecting on Barefoot Beach. A particularly devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills, Jerry created many cherished moments while watching games, relishing the camaraderie it brought.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Rodrigues; their children, Karyn (Thayer) Thompson and Andy (Aimee) Rodrigues; and his precious grandchildren, Estifanos Thompson and Luella Rodrigues. Additionally, Jerry is also remembered by his mother, Adele Rodrigues; sister, Carol (Robert) Otto; and step-sister, Gail Klee. He held dear relationships with his sisters-in-law, Leisa Rodrigues, Sheila Sichak, Joey Gerstein, Trish Walsh, Barbara Tedrow, and Kim Wilt, in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jerry's life was enriched by the friendships he fostered with his neighbors on Mt. Ridge Circle and the close-knit Hickory Harbour gang.
Jerry was predeceased by his father, Anthony Rodrigues; brother, Paul Rodrigues; step-mother, Dora Rodrigues; and brother-in-law, Peter Sichak. His enduring spirit will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation services for Jerry will be held on October 3, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, Westside, located at 2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626. His Funeral Mass will be held 9:30 am Friday, October 4, 2024 at St. Charles Borromeo, 3003 Dewey Avenue.
