Gerald F. Roethel

Sunday September 13, 2026, Passed away at the age of 85 years old.

Predeceased by his brothers, John, Tommy, Donald, Jimmy. Sisters, Flo, Barb, Marilyn and Tina.

Survived by his loving wife, Dixie. Children, Kelly (David) Janicek, T.J.(Brandi) Roethel. Grandchildren, Connor and Kenzie Janicek. Brother in law, Rev. Jim Dugan (Sandie). Many nieces, nephews, dear friends and neighbors.

Jerry lived a long and happy life surrounded by his loving family and friends. He graduated High School from Edison Tech in 1959 and joined Local 13 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He enlisted in the US Army and after being Honorably Discharged in 1965, he continued serving in the National Guard through 1973. During his time in the National Guard, he worked for Betlam Heating and Cooling. While at Betlam, Jerry earned the Rochester Craftmanship Award for the installation of the main boiler room at RIT’s School for the Deaf. 

He moved on to working for Postler and Jaeckle as a Construction Manager. His greatest accomplishment there was being in charge of the cooling system for the Bobsled Run for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Upon returning to Rochester, Jerry accepted a position working at Eastman Kodak and worked there until he retired in 2002.

In his retirement years, Jerry and Dixie enjoyed traveling, camping in the Adirondacks, staying at their condo in Florida during the winter months, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Jerry was also an avid sailor and enjoyed a good game of Euchre.

The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Service, 11am Saturday October 24, 2026 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 3736 St Paul Blvd, Rochester, NY 14617, (corner of Cooper Rd.) A lunch reception will follow the service in the church social hall.
