Geraldine Abert, beloved mother, sister, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at Highland Hospital. Born on August 26, 1944, in Coal Run Key, Kentucky, she lived a life marked by resilience, tenderness, and a deep devotion to her family. Geraldine’s warmth and unwavering love left an indelible imprint on the lives she touched.
Geraldine was the treasured daughter of Luther Stratton and Lokie Smith Stratton, whose lessons and love paved the way for a life lived with integrity and compassion. She carried these gifts forward into her own family, building a home filled with affection and laughter alongside her late husband, William Charles Abert. Together, they weathered life’s challenges and celebrated its joys, creating memories that continue to comfort their loved ones.
She was the heart of her family, the steadfast presence her children turned to through every season of life. Geraldine’s legacy of love is carried on by her six devoted children: Anita, Helen, Caroline, Lisa, and Amy, each of whom reflect her strength, grace, and gentle spirit in their own lives, and by Robert, her cherished son, who brought her immense pride. Her beloved sister Alice survives her, a lifelong companion and confidante whose shared memories speak to a bond that endures beyond this earthly life.
Geraldine’s devotion to family knew no bounds. She was a source of light to her 20 grandchildren,50 Great Grandchildren and even as she mourned the loss of her granddaughter Jessica Young and her great-grandson Carlos Torres, she continued to give of herself, embracing every moment with the family that surrounded her.
In the tender weave of Geraldine’s life are also stories of perseverance and kindness, from her early days in Kentucky to the years spent nurturing those around her. Each chapter, penned in quiet acts of love and encouragement, stands as a testament to a life well lived.
Her passing leaves a void that will be keenly felt. Yet, those who remain draw comfort from the steadfast love she gave so freely, and from the enduring connections she fostered both within her family and among all who had the privilege of knowing her.
