It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory G. Lytle, age 63, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on September 16, 2025, in Rochester, New York.
Gregory was born on July 6, 1962, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to Thomas and Geneva Lytle. He graduated from West Forsyth Senior High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Gregory dedicated 30 amazing years to AndersonDubose, where he served faithfully as their Financial Controller.
Gregory’s life was marked by his unwavering faith in God, his devotion to his family, and his tireless work ethic. He loved the Lord and sought to live out his faith daily in both his personal and professional life.
On June 30, 1984, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, Gregory married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl M. Lytle, and together they shared 41 beautiful years of marriage built on faith, joy, and God’s grace. Gregory and Cheryl were blessed with their beloved Children, son SugarRay Lytle and daughter Shonte Lytle along with Grandchildren Laila Cooper and Legend Lytle, who all brought immense joy to Gregory’s life.
From Cheryl:
“Gregory and I first met in high school, and from that moment on, my life was forever changed. I had prayed to God for the man He wanted in my life—a man who would love me, respect me, and treat me like the queen I am. God answered my prayer when He brought Gregory to me. He was truly one of the coolest and most wonderful men anyone could ever hope to meet.
I’ll never forget the day I overheard him in the cafeteria promising that if he became class president, he would put soda in all the water fountains. I laughed, called him crazy, and walked away. But later that day, when he came up and spoke to me in the hallway, something in me let my guard down. From that moment forward, we were inseparable. If you saw him, you saw me.
Gregory asked me to be his girlfriend, and I said yes. Six years later, we were married. Gregory was more than my husband; he was my partner, my best friend, and my answered prayer. God gave me the desires of my heart, and just as He did it for me, He can do it for you.”
Gregory is survived by his devoted wife Cheryl M. Lytle; his son SugarRay Lytle and his wife, Sienna Lytle; grandchildren Laila Cooper and Legend Lytle; his loving mother Mrs. Geneva Lytle; and his brother Frankie Lytle. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Lytle, his brother Robert Lytle, and his sister Janice Lytle.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on September 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Love Faith Center, 700 Exchange Street, Rochester, NY, 14608, with a wake beginning at 10:00 a.m.
