Gweneth Denise Sailor, lovingly known as Gwen, was a kind, caring, generous, and resilient woman whose warmth touched everyone she met. Born on October 11, 1954, in Fort Pierce, Florida, she was the eldest of Sarah Brown’s four children and was also raised by her beloved grandmother, Vinnie Mae Riley, whose love helped shape the woman Gwen became.
Family was central to Gwen’s life. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones and expressed her creativity through painting, traveling, and music. After suffering a stroke in October 2015, Gwen lost the ability to paint but never her creative spirit. She found new joy in interior decorating and was admired for her beautiful, welcoming home—especially during the holidays.
Gwen will be remembered for her contagious laugh, warm spirit, and wonderful sense of humor. She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and a source of joy to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Vinnie Mae Riley; her mother, Sarah Brown; and her brother, Eric Hillsman.
Gwen’s legacy lives on through her children: Ronald (Jennai) Ware; Carissa Young (Floyd Wyche); Ricky (April) Sailor; Christopher Sailor; Sharese Wilcox (Tyler Roberts); Karin Wilcox; and Najii Wilcox; her grandchildren Tiyana, Erica, Briana, Kyndal, Isaiah, Kayden, Asia, Tehya, and Khari; and her siblings Dennis and Priscilla. Anchored in faith, Gwen trusted in God’s promises. As Scripture reminds us, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1). Though we mourn her passing, we rejoice knowing she now rests in eternal peace with the Lord.
